Two-phase mass flow measurement system based on tomographic/correlative gamma densitometry
A prototype device has been developed for the measurement of two-phase mass flow in a 3 inch pipe. The instrument uses gamma densitometry in two planes with a 2-source/12-beam arrangement. By tomographic/ correlative signal processing the local density and velocity data can be determined, which provide the basis for the calculation of total pipe mass flow. The system is expected to offer improved mass flow measurements under inhomogeneous two-phase flow conditions.
