The use of the radiosity technique in image synthesis
Image synthesis concerns the generation of images represented by a descriptive model, and their viewing on restitution units. Realistic visual simulation, in the field of image synthesis, is the discipline that studies the realistic image generation of three dimensional objects. An illumination model is needed in order to describe the complex optical phenomena in the interaction of light with the surfaces of objects in the scene. The main aim of an accurate illumination model is to simulate the distribution of light with respect to the principles of the conservation and transport of energy. A radiosity technique helps to define an analytic illumination model expressed in terms of the energy balance.
