Cement production requires a lot of energy. Increasing the overall energy efficiency in the cement industry would lower the consumption of primary energy and reduce or eliminate pollution emissions. These proceedings of the European Seminar on Energy Efficiency in the Cement Industry, held in Oporto in 1989, present an overview of the current state of energy efficiency in EEC and non-EEC cement industries. Topics discussed include international experience, environmental impact issues, EEC demonstration projects and state of advancement, cement kiln control and energy management.
