The scientific and technological policy of Italy is described, including: - national laws and plans that govern research and technological development; - short and medium-term objectives and priorities set out by the government; - institutional infrastructure and decision mechanisms in science/technology (S/T); - national R&D resources; - technology transfer; - measures taken to improve the overall efficiency of the S/T system and - international cooperation in the field of S/T.
