The Masnedoe Wind Farm
The Masnedoe Wind Farm has been set up in order to develop further the large Nibe B wind turbine and demonstrate the building of a park with five identical wind turbines. It consists of five 750 kW grid-connected wind turbines and a 65-metre tower. One of the wind turbines is equipped with sensors for measuring loads on the blades, main shaft and tower. Details are given of the construction and commissioning of the wind farm. The results of its operation are presented and evaluated. Problems encountered with the gearboxes, blades and the main circuit breaker are outlined. It is concluded that the Masnedoe Wind Farm fulfilled most of its aims and contributed to the increased use of wind power.
