Assessment of experimental research techniques for the investigation of radionuclide migration in aquifers
The objectives of this work were to contribute to a better understanding of the transport behaviour of actinides using Eu as a homologue and, in addition, to compare the different laboratory techniques used in migration studies, i.e. batch, column and diffusion tests. The experimental work focussed on the radioisotopes of (Na), (Ca), Sr, Zr, (Nb), Tc, Eu and (Pu). The influence exerted on their transport behaviour by redox conditions, the formation of complexes with natural humic acid and the formation and/or presence of colloids is discussed.
