European Community Wind Energy ConferenceFunded under: FP2-JOULE 1
The 1990 Wind Energy Conference was organised by the CEC to present ongoing RTD contract activities in wind energy technology and system utilisation, to encourage the exchange of information and to establish a new strategy for further development. There was general support for an initiative for the development of a new generation of cost effective wind turbines in the MW range. In addition to broad discussion of Community wind energy programmes, national reviews were presented from nine countries world-wide. Technical papers addressed issues such as assessment of potential wind resources, technology development, design parameters and standards, prototypes and studies for the next generation of large wind turbines, utility applications and social/environmental costs.
