Abstract

The work presented in this report aimed at gaining a greater knowledge of the friction coefficient in sheet-metal forming, especially in press forming of thin steel sheets. To achieve this objective, three simulative friction tests were carried out: - a strip draw test between flat dies, simulating the blankholder; - a drawbead simulator, representing a straight drawbead, and - a modified inland steel test, consisting of strip drawing between a flat and a cylindrical die, simulating areas where high plastic deformation occurs, such as die corners.
