RACE : Common Functional Specifications - Document 1 : General aspects of IBC and IBC servicesFunded under: FP2-RACE 1
The Common Functional Specifications (CFS) contain the framework of the synthesised results of Part I of the RACE programme. They are a compendium of principles and guidelines on the IBC concept, as well as of detailed specifications of services, interfaces and network elements. They address telecommunications issues in the context of the public network only. They are generated by the RACE technical workshops. This document, the first of issue A, describes: - the concept of IBC and its relationship to ISDN; - reference models of IBC; - methods for the characteristics of the operational requirements of IBC; - protocol conformance testing; - methods for the specification of IBC services; - video-telephony; - a general purpose multi-media bearer; - a connectionless bearer service and - a multi-media conference service.
