RACE : Common Functional Specifications - Document 4 : Networking and internetworking 3Funded under: FP2-RACE 1
The Common Functional Specifications (CFS) contain the framework of the synthesised results of Part I of the RACE programme. They are a compendium of principles and guidelines on the IBC concept, as well as of detailed specifications of services, interfaces and network elements. They address telecommunications issues in the context of the public network only. They are generated by the RACE technical workshops. This document, the fourth of issue A, discusses various aspects of subsystems used for networking and inter-networking. In particular it describes: - switching systems; - principles for the introduction of intelligent network subsystems; - mobile network subsystems; - optical transmission systems in the customer access networks and - satellites in B-ISDN.
