Abstract

Experiments were performed in order to investigate carbon erosion due to simultaneous impact by H(+) ions and electrons. The effect of electrons was found to be negligible over the H(+) ions-only case, for temperatures corresponding to peak chemical erosion (approximately 800 K) and radiation-enhanced sublimation (1600-2000 K).
