Sliding spark over solid xenon as light source for production of plasma by photoionization of gases
The photoionisation of gases is a promising method for the production of spatially homogeneous, low density plasmas of large volume, such as are needed for shock wave experiments. A new type of sliding spark has been developed using solid xenon as insulator. The report presents the design of the light source, spectroscopic measurements and microwave measurements.
