The influence of modern steel melting procedures on the stress-rupture behaviour of thick-walled building components made of 1%-CrMoV-steels
1%-CrMoV-steels are currently applied for the manufacture of high-pressure and medium-pressure steam turbine rotors for service temperatures up to 550 C. The development of new steel making process routes has contributed to a continuous improvement of the quality of the rotors. The aim of the present project was to study the influence of the melting technique, inclusive ladle treatment, on the stress-rupture behaviour of nine rotors with diameters between 500 and 1219 mm and weights between 89 and 700 kN.
