Worldwide occupational exposure : Status and trendsFunded under: FP2-RADPROT 7C
The status of all sources of occupational exposure worldwide for 1980-84 is summarised. The summary is based largely on data contained in the UNSCEAR 1982 Report but supplemented, where appropriate, by data that are not generally available. Consideration is given to five broad occupational groupings for reporting the data, namely the nuclear fuel cycle, other industrial uses of radiation involving exposure to artificial radiation, occupations involving enhanced exposures to natural radiation, medicine and defence related occupations. In addition, within each of these broader categories, estimates are given for particular occupations. The trends in exposure over three quinquennia within the period 1975-1989 are presented for those countries and occupations for which data have been systematically reported over an extended period. While these data are far from complete or representative, they are indicative of more general trends worldwide.
