The response of Lake Varese to attempts at purification assessed in the light of the oxygenation conditions of its waters
This study illustrates the present conditions of oxygenation of the waters of Lake Varese. A hypolimnic consumption of oxygen of 4.72 t/day has been estimated for the period March-June 1988. The lake's response to outside intervention is not yet such as to guarantee acceptable living conditions for its underwater life.
