Data quality assessment and calibration of the MAESTRO-1 Freiburg data set
The MAESTRO-1 experiment is an ESA/JRC sponsored campaign which employed the multi-frequency, multi-polarisation JPL-AIRSAR radar over a number of European test sites. The Freiburg data set comprises three scenes taken in three parallel tracks, viewing the test site at three different angles of incidence. The raw data were processed by the JPL, and the products available to the investigators are either full resolution single look scattering matrix data, or four look compressed Stokes matrix data. However, these data sets cannot be fed directly into the data analysis phase, but must first be quality checked and calibrated; different calibration procedures can be relevant according to the analysis requirements. This paper describes the methodologies, the results and the software tools of this preparation phase.
