Abstract

Very high resolution neutron transmission measurements of enriched 58Ni and 60Ni samples were taken in the energy ranges 14eV up to 7.5 MeV and 40eV up to 30MeV respectively. Time-of-flight and 1ns linac bursts were used to measure neutron energies. Total cross-section data from 3 sample thicknesses were analysed with an R-matrix multi-level code to deduce parameters of 72 resonances in 58Ni and 208 in 60Ni up to 305 and 550keV respectively, and also the s-wave strength functions and average level spacings.
