Abstract

Nonlinear dynamical characterisations of the edge plasma fluctuations measured by both H(alpha)-light diagnostic and Langmuir probes in ASDEX are presented. The edge plasma fluctuations are stochastic rather than chaotic, and have a higher-dimensional structure in phase space. In time, the edge turbulence is found to have memory properties; the time required to lose the memory is different in the different cases.
