Information and communications technologies in EuropeFunded under: FP2-ESPRIT 2
Information and communications technologies have a major impact on the competitiveness of the whole of the modern economy, economic growth and the level of employment. They are therefore of crucial importance to the success of the 1993 economic and social area, essential factors enabling Europe to control its own destiny. The Community's strategy is not limited to action to promote R&D, to meet the telecommunications challenge and to develop telematics systems of general interest. Such action is complemented by other activities which include standardisation, innovation and the exploitation of R&D, information services, data protection and international relations.
