The purpose of this work was to calibrate capacitors, with either two- terminal pair (2-TP) or four-terminal pair (4-TP) connections, at radio-frequencies. Investigations were carried out on capacitors ranging from 1 pF to 1 microF operating at frequencies from 1 to 100 kHz, and on capacitors ranging from 1 pF to 1 nF operating at frequencies up to 1 MHz and over. The measurements made at 1 MHz were difficult, as the standards were not well known and the capacitors, especially those with 4-TP connections, could not be calibrated to a satisfactory accuracy. This paper presents an analysis of equivalent circuits of capacitors with 2-TP and 4-TP connections, a description of the two set-ups used at LCIE, error analysis and uncertainty calculations, the results of measurements and the traceability of standards.
