Investigation of the accuracy of the field strength in a shielded room
This study investigates, in the 80 to 1000 MHz frequency range, how accurately the strength of an electromagnetic field emitted from an antenna inside a shielded room can be controlled. For this purpose the field was mapped, using both a monopole and an isotropic sensor, over an area large enough to contain the most common test objects, as a function of the following parameters: dimensions of the shielded room, presence of absorbers, measuring distance, antenna type, antenna height and frequency. The report defines the limits of the validity of the measurements in the experimental conditions. It discusses and quantifies the sources of uncertainty, analyses the precautions to be taken and provides a detailed set of recommendations to the user.
