Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Abstract

The main purpose of this document, which has been prepared within the framework of Community programmes SPRINT and COMETT, is to review the current situation in those bodies which act as interfaces between the publicly funded research organisations and industry: the industry liaison offices (ILOs). They have been established over the last few years throughout the European Community, but in different ways and different times in the various member states. The survey provides a status report on ILOs established in all the member states, in the light of governmental policies for technology transfer. It also assesses the differences between university and non-university ILOs, their relative maturity, their roles and their activities, and also the needs of ILOs in general.
