Abstract

Since the start of the MARIA programme in 1983, a wide range of theoretical and experimental studies have been carried out to improve nuclear accident consequence assessment (ACA) methodologies. The program package COSYMA includes in its models and data sets the most important results deriving from the MARIA programme and reflects in its structures the methodological progress achieved. It is intended to provide a flexible package to investigate special problems in depth by detailed parameter studies rather than to perform risk calculations. This user guide describes the general layout and program structure of the system, the subsidiary programs and data libraries and the presentation of results. It provides individual guides for each of the subsystems, the preprocessing and evaluation programs, and the three models.
