Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

Abstract

It is important, in order to facilitate the free circulation of agricultural and industrial products within the European Community, that norms and regulations for measurements and tests carried out on these products are recognised by all Member States. Metrology does not pose any specific problems, but inconsistencies still exist between different laboratory analyses. The objectives of the BCR (Community Bureau of Reference) are to help the laboratories concerned to collaborate in order to improve the results and iron out the differences and to ease the normalisation and accreditation of the tests by each Member State.
