A survey on NDA instrumentation used routinely for safeguards by the Euratom Safeguards Directorate
A systematic review of the different nuclear material categories, physical and chemical forms and container descriptions held by nuclear installations in the European Community is presented, along with the non-destructive instrumentation (NDA) currently used for their verification. Material categories are identified where current NDA verification techniques are insufficiently accurate, or where no adequate NDA technique exists. Based on this analysis, the future needs for NDA instrumentation are discussed, particularly with respect to new large-scale nuclear facilities.
