Abstract

An array of transputers hosted by a microVAX is used to analyse nuclear reactions involving a limited number of parameters. The reaction data enter the system as a stream of multiparametric events. The events are sorted by type according to their coincidence pattern and processed in parallel by event processors written by the user in a sequential language. The results of the analysis are accumulated in counting histograms in the memory of the host. A Workbench utility simplifies the user design and "hand-testing" of one or more event processors associated with a load module running on a single transputer. A Configurer utility makes it possible to interconnect one or more of these load modules implemented on a linear array of transputers to a complete, distributed analysis program. Both Workbench and Configurer utilities are written in C for portability to any host running VMS, MS/DOS or UNIX.
