Abstract

A suitable programming of machine parameters, such as the externally applied magnetic fields, is essential in order to achieve a tokamak discharge of a desired type. A flexible function generator system is needed to comply with the control requirements of the scientific programme of the experiment, i.e. control of plasma position and density is of major importance. At TEXTOR, a programmable function generator system (PFG) has been developed to allow for more than 20 control channels, a programming range of up to 10 sec and a time resolution of 1 msec.
