Automatic electronic identification systems for farm animalsFunded under: FP2-CAMAR
The purpose of the seminar was to support the introduction of a national and international system for animal identification and the exchange of information regarding developments in electronic identification. The method of injecting identification transponders (consisting of a microchip, passive transmitter and enclosure) into an animal's body was demonstrated. It was concluded that such a transponder might be a suitable solution for existing and expected problems in relation to the identification of animals.
