The eight papers in this volume are concerned with the Wendelstein 7-AS stellarator. The first, invited paper discusses how optimum confinement may be realised by wall conditioning and by determining the magnetic field configuration. The remaining papers deal with ion heat conductivity, radial electric fields and CX-losses, thermal diffusivity, impurity behaviour, particle transport and plasma edge behaviour, neutral injection experiments, MHD activity driven by NBI, and the influence of density fluctuations on the propagation of ECRH beams.
