Determination of resistivity value as a function of temperature in disk shaped samplesFunded under: JRC-ADVMAT 1C
The four points method allows the measurement of the electrical properties of semiconductors and superconductors. The electrical resistivity can be obtained from such a measurement by analytical calculation only if the sample has the form of a parallelepiped or for a semi-infinite sample. The cylindrical form of the pellets has induced the use of a numerical method in order to calculate the resistivity value. A cryogenerator (GALILEO K1) has been adapted to receive cylindrical pellets in which the temperature measurements have been taken in three different positions with two silicon diodes and a Chromel-Gold thermocouple. A QBasic program has been written to command the IEEE-488 interfaced instruments of measurement, and to obtain in real time the plot of resistivity as a function of temperature.
