This report deals with laboratory measurements of the sound insulation of building elements, especially window panes and windows. The aim of the project is to determine the agreement between test results from different laboratories, and to investigate some measuring parameters which are expected to have a significant influence on the test results. Measurements have been carried out by 13 laboratories from EEC countries on three different test objects, partly with mounting and measuring methods normally used in the individual laboratories, and partly by use of methods described in detail in the measurement instructions prepared for this project. It was concluded that sufficient agreement between the laboratories requires prescribed geometry of the test opening, a prescribed mounting method for window panes, guidelines for loudspeaker positions and, possibly, prescribed dimensions of the test object. A synthesis report, EUR 11576, is published full-size.
