Needs for legislation
Action to safeguard the health and safety of workers was given a renewed emphasis by the introduction in 1987 of a reference to the establishment of minimum standards under Article 118A in the treaty establishing the EC. The impact of this new treaty basis for action is described in terms of the legislation now being developed and adopted. Other activities taking place, or envisaged, which are likely to increase requirements concerning the measurement of exposure or its practice, are discussed.
