Abstract

The Van de Graaff group at the Central Bureau for Nuclear Measurements is using PV-WAVE (Precision Visual - Workstation Analysis and Visualisation Environment) as a graphical tool for interactive data analysis and presentation purposes. Evaluation and comparison with other packages shows it to be the most suitable graphical software system for this purpose. Due to its powerful and fast command language, large, multidimensional datasets can be displayed quickly, reduced, analysed and redisplayed. The additional possibility of combining the available commands into procedures, functions or even user-friendly mouse-driven programs has been very useful. Programs for 2- and 3-dimensional data display for presentation purposes and list mode data analysis have been written and used extensively. Future plans include the use of the graphical display power of PV-WAVE for data acquisition purposes.
