Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This is the third volume in a series that is planned to cover the carcinogenicity, the reproductive toxicity and the immunotoxicity of chemicals. It has been produced with the objective of providing readily available summary reviews of the salient scientific evidence that underlies the assessment of a particular chemical in terms of carcinogenicity. This volume deals with 24 compounds including arsenic compounds, together with a general introduction to the chemistry and biology of arsenic and its industrial and health aspects. The reviews set out to provide concisely and systematically the most relevant scientific findings from studies in animals, from the results of short-term tests for mutagens and carcinogens, and from epidemiological studies that all together are utilised in the risk assessment of a chemical.
