This book brings together recent work on the sub-acute spongiform encephalopathies. This group of diseases has become particularly important in the light of concerns about the bovine form, known as BSE. The book includes papers on the nature of the agent, epidemiology, pathogenesis and genetics, inactivation of the agent and future research priorities. The papers were presented at a seminar held in Brussels in November 1990, and represent work from both EC and non-EC countries.
