Abstract

After more than 40 years of development in the nuclear industry, an increasing number of installations are being withdrawn from service each year. This trend has resulted in the decommissioning of larger and more complex installations and in the development of techniques for performing decommissioning operations under optimum conditions. This paper, which aims to assist all those involved in the decommissioning of nuclear installations, provides practical conclusions and references to technical documents for guidance at the planning stage.
