Abstract

Sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are the two most important anthropogenic air pollutants, occurring in the largest concentrations and quantities. There is a growing awareness that severe limitations to the emission of these pollutants have to be imposed. This book contains the proceedings of a Eurocourse, giving an overview of the present knowledge concerning emission sources and quantities, the chemistry and transport of the pollutants in the atmosphere, and modern legislation. The main part of the book is dedicated to a survey of the presently available industrial abatement techniques.
