Oligocyclic fatigue at high temperatures of a Cr-Mn austenitic steel for fusion reactors
The purpose of this project was to determine the oligocyclic fatigue properties of a steel alloy in a hot environment with a view to the possible use of this material as the first wall of fusion reactors. The fatigue properties of the Cr-Mn steel were compared with similar ones for AISI 316 steel. The oligocyclic fatigue experiments were carried out by using an electrohydraulic closed circuit testing system, and during the fatigue tests the response under stress was measured for each cycle and the hysteresis loop was measured at intervals.
