ECDIN (Environmental Chemicals Data and Information Network) is a data bank that has been developed and managed since 1973 in the framework of the environmental research programme of the CEC's JRC-Ispra (Italy). It has been created in order to provide people engaged in environmental management and research with rapid access to reliable information on chemical products. The data bank is made publicly available from the HOST DIMDI, Köln. Since September 1991 ECDIN is also available on CD-ROM. In this article special emphasis is placed on the CD-ROM version.
