Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

This project is concerned with the development of a general purpose performance monitoring system for use on roadway drivage equipment used within British Coal mines. The report contains a description of a system developed by Dowty Electronics in conjunction with HQTD, and subsequent testing. It details the Dowty monitoring system's shortcomings, and explains why the development was switched to a monitoring system based on the HQTD developed Multi-purpose Automation & Control Equipment (MACE) system. It explains the need for further investigations into suitable transducers for underground use, draws overall conclusions and recommendations and details future work to be undertaken under a new ECSC project.
