Designing a minor actinide-containing fuel for transmutation in a fast reactor
Actinides resulting from nuclear energy generation processes have to be transmuted into less radiotoxic nuclides. The constraints of reprocessing the targets used strongly influence their composition. This paper describes the constraints observed when extending the present MOX fuel concepts of fast breeder reactors to the partitioning and transmutation of minor antinides (MA). Results suggest that MOX containing MA could be introduced into the current fuel cycle of uranium and plutonium mixed oxides.
