Materials databanks in Europe and the impact of VAMAS activities
This paper highlights those European activities in the area of materials data systems for engineering which have some interaction with standardisation and prenormative research. This reveals the absence of an appropriate basis for standardisation for the integration of materials information into the CAE environment. On the other hand, there has been a significant basis of prenormative achievements in cooperation with the national standards institutions and international bodies, in particular UAMAS and CODATA. The further evolution of materials data interchange activities is outlined.
