Round robin comparison of roughness measurements within the European Community
Comparative roughness measurements were made within twelve institutes and three manufacturers of surface measuring instruments in nine countries of the European Community. The measurement specimens were one depth-adjustment standard, three calibrated roughness standards (PTB-Rauhnor male) with irregularly ground profiles, and four Etalons de Rugosité L.C.A. with lathe-turned profiles. A variety of different measuring instruments was used in the 15 laboratories. The aim was to test the comparability of the measuring results in order to harmonise measuring conditions throughout Europe.
