The Institute for Advanced Materials - A centre for European materials research
In general, the advent of advanced materials, i.e. materials with specific physical and chemical functions and with improved structural performance, is one of the forces that will enable the introduction of new technologies in the future, as well as leading to improvement in the effectiveness of existing technologies. This article describes the work of the Institute for Advanced Materials, one of the Institutes of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, and the manner in which it contributes to the European materials scene.
