The fault tree technique is universally recognised as the most widely applied tool for complex systems reliability analysis. It allows the systematic description of the logical sequences of events leading to the occurrence of the Top-event and the estimation of the corresponding probability. This report describes the characteristics of the interactive program package for fault tree analysis, ISPRA-FTA. It is subdivided into three main parts. In the first part, the ISPRA-FTA software structure and its modules are summarised. In the second part a simplified description of the methodology is given, in order to allow the user to understand the potential of the program and how it works. The hardware/software characteristics and the characteristics of the user interface are presented in the third part. A sample fault tree description, together with the results of the analysis, is provided in the appendix.
