Intercomparison of microhardness measurements
In the microhardness range, measurements are increasingly affected by systematic experimental errors and by the effects of impacts and machine tooling. The aim of this intercomparison is to examine the deviations from the mean of Vickers microhardness measurements made in 5 laboratories, to identify where possible the causes of these deviations, and also to estimate the necessary tolerances for a calibration of hardness test blocks.
