Shape and profile throughout the strip-mill processing line
Steel strip users, such as the automotive and can-making industry, require sheets which can be handled easily in their processing lines. This means that the sheet material delivered should be flat, of constant thickness and free of residual stresses. To try to meet these requirements, the influence of the different process stages on the shape and the profile are studied experimentally, and described quantitatively by physical-mathematical models. Two movable shape meters have been developed to carry out shape measurements.
