The future of human radiation researchFunded under: FP2-RADPROT 7C
This workshop considered the effects of ionising radiation on humans. It aimed to define the validity of current data, to indicate possible new epidemiological and experimental approaches which might be applied to the reduction of uncertainties in current data, and to contribute information concerning the mechanisms of human cancer induction by ionising radiation. Six sessions were devoted to the review of data on specific forms of cancer, including leukemia and cancers of the lung, breast and thyroid. Two other sessions were dedicated to experimental aspects, new approaches in basic research and analytical methodologies.
