Lanthanides and actinides under pressure - Related but not identical
Lanthanides and actinides are two series in the Periodic Table where an f shell is successively filled. This makes them similar in many respects, but there are important deviations in their behaviour under pressure. A major feature is the larger extension of the 5f orbitals with respect to the 4f orbitals, which causes delocalisation in the light actinide metals. Other properties follow the 2+4 relationship.
