Remote sensing and agriculture : Image classification and area estimationFunded under: JRC-REMSENS 4C
In using remote sensing data for land use mapping or area estimation, the choice of high or low resolution satellite sensors depends on the particular application. Procedures for supervised classification of high resolution images are compared and evaluated. Remote sensing can also play an important role in stratification and in computing area estimates. Relevant activities of Action 1 and Action 4 of the EC project on the application of remote sensing to agricultural statistics are reported.
